OMG! I am so excited to share with you this yummy recipe for this very delicious french toast! I know I don’t usually do breakfast recipes, because I’m not that big on breakfast to be honest. I’m the type of person that eats the left overs from the night before for breakfast. But I’m glad I tried this one! Someone tweeted the link to this recipe on twitter and I decided to check it out. It’s from EatRelateLove.com. When I first looked at the ingredients I thought to myself, how can you make french toast with no eggs? Well let me tell you after this I will never crack an egg to make french toast again!
So let’s get down to business. The ingredients are double the original recipe because I was using a pretty good-sized Challah loaf and I cut the slices thick.
- 1 loaf Challah Bread
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 cup coconut milk (canned)<—– I actually added a little more than this, a few splashes or so
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tsp bourbon vanilla
- a few shakes of cinnamon
- Butter to coat the pan (I used a lot of butter!)
Whisk the half and half, coconut milk (don’t forget to stir it in the can first),condensed milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Did you taste the mixture yet? Yeah I know it’s to die for!
Now cut your challah bread into 1/2 inch (or thicker) slices.
Heat up your skillet and coat it with butter.
You should have the skillet on medium to low heat. Dip your slices in the milk mixture one at a time and cook in the skillet on each side until golden.
And voila there you have it, the best dang homemade french toast you’ll ever have!
